Body reportedly found in vehicle in Liberty County
Autopsy set for Wednesday to determine cause of death

Authorities  in Liberty County and Richmond Hill  are investigating after a man’s body was discovered Tuesday afternoon in a vehicle in a wooded area off Islands Highway and Dorchester Village Road. 

The vehicle was found by a Georgia State Patrol helicopter. Officers arrived to investigate they found the man, who has not been identified. 

Liberty County Sheriff Steve Sikes said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will conduct an autopsy in Savannah today to determine the cause of death.

Liberty County schools to have early release Tuesday
Remote learning to be held Wednesday and Thursday

The Liberty County School System will have a half-day of instruction Tuesday and will use virtual learning Wednesday and Thursday because of the risk of winter weather.

All school trips, after school activities and events have been cancelled from January 21-23

Release times Tuesday are:

·       Pre-K at 11 a.m.

·       Elementary at 11:30 a.m.

·       High School at 12:45 p.m.

·       Middle School at 1:15 p.m

Students should ensure they have their iPads/Chromebooks and will receive instruction pertaining to virtual learning on Tuesday.

LCSS will continue to monitor the weather conditions in the area and will provide updates regarding school status for Friday.
