The bodies of missing Liberty County firefighters Raegan Anderson and Chandler Kuhbander have been found in Cocke County, Tennessee, according to the Hinesville Police Department.
Tennessee authorities are investigating the scene. Anderson’s vehicle also was found.
Details pertaining to the discovery of their bodies, vehicle and events leading to their deaths are not available at this time, according to the HPD. Questions should be directed to the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office or the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations.
The Hinesville Police Department extended “our deepest condolences to the Anderson and Kuhbander families during this incredibly difficult time.”
According to the TBI, the bodies were found inside a car in Cosby, Tennessee, which is east of Pigeon Forge. Autopsies to determine the cause of death will be conducted.
“These two extremely dedicated employees put their hearts and souls into protecting and serving the citizens of Liberty County,” Liberty County Fire Chief Brian Darby said in a Facebook post.
Authorities issued a lookout for Anderson on June 26. A Liberty County deputy fire chief asked the HPD to conduct a welfare check on Anderson, who previously had been in a romantic relationship with Kuhbander.
When officers got to Anderson’s home, they did not find anybody but they found a note that raised concerns about her state of mind, HPD Chief Tracey Howard said.
Anderson also had been arrested in Pooler recently for an incident involving Kuhbander. Anderson was arrested after keying Kuhbander’s car June 22.
Authorities said Anderson’s debit card was last used at a Circle K in South Carolina, and Kuhbander’s cell phone also pinged at the same location.
There also is video footage of Kuhbander leaving the Crunch Fitness at Oglethorpe Mall in Savannah but never getting into his vehicle. Anderson’s car was spotted in the same parking lot.
