SAVANNAH — AARP Tax-Aide — a free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service — seeks volunteers in the Savannah area to help taxpayers prepare and file their 2012 tax returns.

Volunteers do not need to be AARP members or retirees to participate. AARP Tax-Aide volunteers should have some computer experience, such as email use and Internet browsing. Volunteers who have management experience also are needed.

Volunteers receive free IRS-certified tax training and are reimbursed on a limited basis for qualified program-related expenses.

“Last year, AARP Tax-Aide volunteers in the Savannah area helped more than 1,000 taxpayers with their tax returns, supplementing the assistance given to more than 51,000 taxpayers in Georgia and more than 2.5 million taxpayers nationwide,” said Richard Cramer, Tax-Aide state manager.

Deadline for application is Dec. 15. For more information, go to aarp.org/tavolunteer8 or call 1-888-687-2277.
