BRUNSWICK — Heartland Hospice has received accreditation from the Community Health Accreditation Program Inc.

CHAP is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body that publicly certifies that an organization has voluntarily met the highest standards of excellence for home and community-based health care.

Organizations are measured on CHAP’s “Standards of Excellence,” which consider management, quality, client outcomes, adequate resources and long-term viability. Its goal is to assist all types of community-based health-care organizations to strengthen internal operations, promote continuous quality-improvement techniques, promote consumer satisfaction, affirm public trust and meet community health needs in a cost-efficient and effective manner.

CHAP accreditation is in addition to licensure and Medicare certification.

“We are proud of our CHAP accreditation and believe that our strict adherence to their standards enhances our quality care and commitment to our patients and their families,” said Marie Brewer, Heartland senior administrator.

Heartland Hospice is a part of the HCR ManorCare family, a provider of home health care and hospice services, short-term post-acute services and long-term care. Heartland is the third-largest provider of hospice care in more than 100 markets in the United States with a network of more than 500 hospice and home health-care agencies, skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers, assisted-living facilities and outpatient-rehabilitation clinics.

Heartland serves Liberty, Long, Brantley, Camden, Charlton, Glynn, McIntosh, Ware, Wayne and Pierce counties.
