Chamber executive continues training
Kenny Smiley chamber
Kenny Smiley
Kenny Smiley, executive director of the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce, completed the Institute for Organization Management, a week-long leadership training program June 17-21 at the University of Georgia.
Graduates receive the IOM recognition, signifying completion of 96 hours of course instruction in association, chamber and nonprofit management.
Smiley attended the institute this year on a scholarship he earned through the Georgia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. He has completed his third year and plans to graduate next year.  This year, Smiley won the “Spirit of Institute Award,” the only one given each year to one of 300 students.  He was chosen for embracing the experience, attending all required classes and functions, interacting in classes and faculty, and recognizing and promoting the importance of the institute.
“I was overwhelmed when they called my name during the last day’s luncheon,” Smiley said. “The education that I am receiving through the institute and the relationships I have formed are invaluable.  They all continue to be a great resource for me and our chamber.”
