The city of Hinesville’s comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended Oct. 31, 2013 qualified for a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. The certificate is awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada as the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
The city’s comprehensive annual financial report was judged by an impartial panel on its ability to meet the highest standards of the program. The report was recognized for demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” that clearly communicates the financial story of the city and motivates potential users to read the report, according to a news release from GFOA. This is the city’s ninth consecutive year receiving the award.
“We are proud of our finance department for the hard work they do with the management of the city’s budget and finances,” Hinesville City Manager Billy Edwards said. “They truly earned this award for their ability to prepare a detailed budget and provide full reporting that ensures transparency and accountably.”
