Co-op meeting draws crowd

The 67th annual Meeting of the Members for Coastal Electric Cooperative was on Friday at Midway Middle School.

Thousands filled the gym and listened as WTOC’s Sonny Dixon emceed the event and Hollowell gave the annual officers’ report.

Elections for representatives on the board were held and the following people won for their specific areas and will now serve three-year terms. Bryan County, Chris McDermott; Liberty County, Steve Mullice and McIntosh County, W.L. Bland.

Also, the following co-op employees were honored for their years of service. Five years — Robert Bitzer Jr., Anne Cordeiro, Kenneth Duke, William Durrence and Brandie Waugh. Ten years — William Doughtie, Pharris Proctor, Janice Tomberlin and Michael Carreker.
