ATLANTA — A group of universities claims in a federal lawsuit that a Georgia firm is violating their trademark rights and selling counterfeit products with their logos.
The lawsuit filed on Tuesday claims that Signature Designs is “knowingly and willfully manufacturing and selling counterfeit products” involving a range of school logos that includes the University of Georgia, the University of Arkansas, Florida State University and Auburn University.
The lawsuit says Signature Designs was authorized by the schools to sell license products until September 2008, but that the company still continued to sell clothing, pillows, jerseys and other goods with the designs.
A Signature Designs employee declined to comment when reached on Thursday.
