NEW YORK -- Martin NeSmith of NeSmith Chevrolet-Buick-Pontiac-GMC was named a General Motors Dealer of the Year last month in New York City and received a Jack Smith Leadership Award.
NeSmith is one of only 115 GM dealers, out of 6,700 in the U.S., recognized for their sales performance and customer service.
His dealerships include NeSmith Chevrolet in Hinesville.
The award is named after the retired GM chairman and chief executive officer who founded the Dealer of the Year program. The award, a Steuben crystal obelisk, represents excellence and high achievement, and was presented to each of the winners, according to a GM news release.
On hand to congratulate NeSmith were senior General Motors leaders, including Rick Wagoner, GM chairman and chief executive officer.
"GM Dealer of the Year recipients represent our company's commitment to excellence in this, our centennial year," Wagoner said. "Dealers are the face of General Motors to our customers, and this year's winners are truly the best of the best.
Other GM officials also praised the area dealer.
"In honoring NeSmith, we recognize that he has reached the pinnacle of success in our dealer network, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to celebrate this achievement," said Mark LaNeve, group vice president of vehicle sales, service and marketing, GM North America. "NeSmith Chevrolet has successfully blended extraordinary sales and customer service into one dealership."
