Notary public applications now online locally

F. Barry Wilkes, clerk of superior court of Liberty County, recently announced that notary public applications may now be completed online.
With the assistance of the Georgia Superior Court Clerks' Cooperative Authority, the local office has developed an online notary application process for new and renewing notaries. Application and renewal forms are provided at
People applying to become a notary public may complete an application at, print a copy of the application form, obtain statutorily required signatures of two references, and then take the completed form to the clerk's office (Office C-1, Liberty County Courthouse, 101 Main Street, Hinesville) for processing. The clerk is authorized to either approve or deny the application.
Notaries public needing to renew their commissions may complete an online renewal application, print it out, and take the completed form to office for processing. Attestation of two references is no longer required for renewals.
The fee for a new or renewal is $30, payable in cash, money order or credit card. Each commission is for four years.
