The Gyro Shop hosted a grand-opening ribbon cutting May 3 in conjunction with the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce.

The event was at the shop in the Kroger Plaza at 545 West Oglethorpe Highway in Hinesville.

Shop owners Krish, Nayna and Umang Desai welcomed family and friends and chamber staff, ambassadors and members.

“Our shop takes pride in offering authentic gyros, made with high-quality ingredients.  We have seen an increase in demand for the gyro, and we are happy to continue serving the community with our newly expanded menu,” Krish Desai said.

He discussed the history of the shop, formerly known as The Sub Station II, and explained their new menu items, which were created by his son, Umang.

Menu items include gyros, salads, platters, nachos, cold subs, hot sandwiches, wraps and desserts. Items can be ordered ahead of time and guests can dine in or take orders home.

In addition to single-serving orders, large orders are welcome, including the “Gyronida,” a 1-pound gyro wrap.

“As a customer and a chamber representative, I thank you for your contribution to the cuisine available in Liberty County.  The chamber is here for you, and we look forward to helping your business grow in any way that we can,” chamber board Chairwoman Susan McCorkle said.
