SAVANNAH - Savannah Technical College will host a Georgia Work Ready Business Workshop at 8:30 a.m. until noon June 10 in the Eckburg Auditorium on the Savannah Campus.
The workshop is an event sponsored by the Governor's Office of Workforce Development and the Society of Human Resource Management Georgia State Council. Regional businesses are invited to discuss incorporating Georgia's Work Ready Initiative, which creates a more profitable and competitive workforce, into current hiring processes.
Savannah Tech's Department of Economic Development worked closely with the Governor's Office and SHRM to bring this opportunity to Savannah.
The Work Ready program helps employers validate hiring work force requirements with fundamental, trainable employee skills, said Tom Hines, executive director of training operations.
"Work Ready Certification allows potential employees the opportunity to enhance employability by indicating skill and knowledge levels to potential employers," Hines said.
Businesses interested in attending the workshop should contact the Governor's Office of Workforce Development, at workready@mslpr.com.
