Atlantic Area Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), Inc. announces that Jamiallah Jackson, CASA’s Advocacy coordinator supervisor, received the STAR Award at the 2024 Council of Accountability Court Judges (CACJ) Annual Training Conference in Athens. CACJ offers training and resources for Georgia’s accountability courts, including drug and family treatment courts, to improve the justice system’s efforts.
The STAR Award recognizes accountability court professionals across the state of Georgia for their hard work and commitment to the programs that they serve. Jackson, along with 10 other recipients, was nominated by their team members and then selected by CACJ. This award honors Jackson’s exceptional leadership and commitment to supporting abused or neglected children who have been placed in foster care through the juvenile court system. Her tireless efforts and compassion make her a standout advocate in the CASA community.
“I was honored to recommend Jamiallah for this award,” said Petula Gomillion, director of Atlantic Area CASA. “She not only advocates for children in foster care, but she is also a strong advocate for the parents who suffers from addiction. She has advocated for resources for those parents to reach compliance and treatment goals. Ms. Jackson is truly a star and major contributor to the Atlantic Area CASA’s team. The recognition of CASA as an integral component of the Family Treatment Court team is a big deal and should be acknowledged and recognized.”
In addition to Jackson’s recognition, the Atlantic Judicial Circuit Family Treatment Court also received Model Court Recognition at the conference. The award recognizes courts that have met and exceeded Georgia’s Standards through strong performance in certification and peer review processes.
