Liberty County community enjoyed its second annual Celebrity Chef Pancake Breakfast. Resources for the event were donated by individual donors, Rick’s Meat Market, Circle F Meat Market, Walthourville Meat Market, McDonalds, First Watch Restaurant and Joseph Grant-State Farm Insurance. Special recognition and rewards were given to top chefs.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority brought the club the largest sales donation of $700. They also provided chefs for all three shifts and performed their Greek stroll, “Set it Off” for early morning entertainment. They were awarded four special gift cards from First Watch Restaurant.
Attorney Luke Moses was lauded the “Gourmet Chef.” He walked through the doors with bags of blueberries and chocolate chips as a surprise to assure his celebrity status. This placed his pancakes over the top, the cry went out for more of those, long after Moses had completed his shift. He was also awarded two special gift cards from First Watch Restaurant.
Finally, after watching this chef chase tiny pancakes around the griddle and off the edge of the griddle, The “No Flip” Celebrity Pancake Chef award went to Commissioner Justin Frasier. Commissioner Frasier finally got his joints loose enough to make a flip. He was awarded one free meal at Ole Time Country Buffet.
After youth and adults enjoyed pancakes, sausages, bacon, orange juice, hot chocolate and fresh coffee, the event ended with a trivia session that awarded STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) T-shirts for giving the correct answers to questions about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and line dancing to music with DJ Donald Currie. Youth and adults STEM -promoted T-shirts and musical entertainment were donated.
All proceeds went to the support of the kids at Liberty County Boys & Girls Club.
