City to revisit raises for council, mayor

The Hinesville City Council will reconsider raising the mayor and city council members' salaries at its April 1 meeting. If approved, the salary increases would become effective in 2012, after the next municipal elections. The city's charter bans the mayor and council from raising their own salaries during their current terms.
The council had voted on Jan. 7 to raise the mayor's salary from $15,000 to $40,000 and council members' from $7,500 to $20,000. For more on the story, pick up a copy of Friday's Coastal Courier.
