On December 4, 2021, DAV Chapter 46 Commander Joel L. Feagin was the Master of Ceremony for the Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941, Remembrance program. He provided opening remarks, and Comrade Dr. Karen Bell welcomed the guests.
The 37 guests included local community members and DAV and DAVA Chapter 46 members. The guest list also included Hinesville Mayor Allen Brown, SEGA DAV Commander Cort Nordoff, and Department of Georgia American Legion Post 321 Jr. Vice Commander Dennis Fitzgerald.
DAV Chapter 46 Chaplain Dr. Karen Bell provided a moving and heartfelt invocation for the memory of those 2,400 brave American military and citizens who gave their lives and all those who stood in our defense. She prayed for hope and courage and gave thanks to the survivors of the attack and our country.
The color guard and National Anthem singer were provided by Fort Stewart. Comrade Dexter Newby lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
In the spirit of remembering our fallen commanders, the DAV and DAVA Chapter 46 Commanders, Joel Feagin and Melinda Schneider, placed their unit wreaths at the front of the room.
The guest speaker for the event was Colonel Kevin J. Lambert. He was commissioned into the Infantry through ROTC at North Georgia College in 1993. He had many assignments throughout his career. Colonel Lambert currently serves as the Deputy Commander, supporting the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Ga. His speech touched the past, his family, and the future.
2021 marks the 80th anniversary of the attacks on the U.S. fleet at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. We will not forget and continue to move forward.
