The land has been cleared and perhaps the way as well for a townhome and apartment development off Live Oak Church Road.
The owners of a 13.9 acre tract have finished removing the mobile homes that once stood there and moving the residents from the former Oak View mobile home park to new homes, Liberty Consolidated Planning Commission executive director Jeff Ricketson told Hinesville City Council members.
The city and the developers, Newbridge Properties, entered into an agreement in April 2024 that required Newbridge to find new homes for the park’s residents and to remove the old mobile homes before the city would take up annexing the land.
“The development agreement with Newbridge has been satisfied,” Ricketson said. “They have successfully relocated all the residents. They have since cleaned up all the dilapidated mobile homes and all the debris.”
Property owners also are requesting a rezoning from single-family manufactured home to planned unit development. The concept plan calls for up to 34 townhomes and 184 apartments to be built on the tract. A traffic impact study will be required as part of the site plan review, Ricketson reminded council members.
Council members are expected to take action on the annexation request at their December 4 meeting. By law, they must have the request read twice before it can approve or deny the request.
