A man is found dead by Liberty County Sheriff’s Department deputies following a domestic dispute that allegedly escalated into a hostage situation.

Shortly after 8 p.m. Friday, a LCSO deputy responded to a domestic violence call at a home on the corner of Main Trail and Leroy Coffer Highway. When the responding officer arrived, he reportedly heard a single gunshot from inside the house. He called for backup, according to Maj. Jeff Hein with the LCSO.

The two people that were in the home were father and son, according to deputies. A Special Reactionary Team arrived and attempted to negotiate with the son through a loudspeaker. Officers managed to get the father out of the home through a window, dragging him across the lawn to safety, according to law enforcement. The man had allegedly been in a physical altercation with his son.

Deputies employed two flash grenades outside the home. They entered and conducted a room-by-room search. They discovered the body of the son.
