Early voting for the December 6 U.S. Senate runoff between incumbent Raphael Warnock and challenger Herschel Walker concludes today.

Polls at precincts will be open Tuesday, December 6, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

More than 6,600 Liberty County voters have cast their ballots in early voting, with bulk – 2,137 – voting on the first day. There also have been 762 ballots requested by mail.

Early voting will continue today until 7 p.m. at the elections main office, 100 Main St., suite 1600 in the old Liberty County Courthouse, and at the county’s East End Complex, 9397 E. Oglethorpe Highway in Midway.

Neither Warnock nor Walker garnered a majority of the votes in November’s general election, meaning a runoff election is needed. Warnock received nearly 1.95 million votes, or 49.44%, and Walker garnered nearly 1.91 million votes, 48.49% of the votes cast in the state.

Warnock won the seat in a January 2021 runoff against then-Sen. Kelly Loeffler, who had been appointed to fill the seat vacated when Johnny Isakson resigned for health reasons.
