AASU names Liberty campus boss

Dr. Don S. Stumpf recently was named director of Armstrong Atlantic State University’s Liberty Center in Hinesville. He will oversee all aspects of the center, including recruiting, admissions, student and faculty support, administrative services and facility management.
“Don is an accomplished educator who brings extensive traditional and online teaching experience to the Liberty Center,” said Anne Thompson, Armstrong’s interim vice president of academic affairs. “His background and knowledge of the Hinesville community will serve him well as he takes on this new endeavor.”
Most recently, Stumpf served as assistant professor and graduate coordinator in the Department of Adolescent and Adult Education in Armstrong’s College of Education. From 2008-10, he was an assistant professor of education and director of teacher education at the Liberty Center. His responsibilities included teaching, directing the teacher-education program and providing leadership for the implementation of a coordinated effort to develop further the teacher-education program in Liberty County.
He served as an instructor and director of Columbia College’s  Fort Stewart extended campus in Hinesville from 2003-08, where he was responsible for admissions, financial aid/scholarship applications and academic advisement. He managed adjunct faculty and provided oversight of class scheduling and technology implementation.
Stumpf is a member of the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education, the Commission of Professor of Adult Education and the Council of Colleges and Military Educators. He holds a doctorate in education administration from Georgia Southern University, a master’s degree in adult education from Armstrong Atlantic State University and a bachelor’s degree in general studies from Armstrong Atlantic State College.
