Students from Liberty County schools participated in an annual art and music showcase sponsored by the Georgia Kiwanis Club on March 31.
The showcase was at the Hinesville Arts Council building on Commerce Street. Participants included students from Lewis Frasier Middle School, Bradwell Institute, Liberty High and the Challenge Academy. The director of the showcase is Dr. Robert Hughes. Entries were judged by grade level by a panel, and the first place winners in each category will go to the state level Kiwanis Showcase in Carrollton on April 28.
From middle school, the winners were: Sixth-grade: 1 Latravis Nails, 2 Jelissa Estrada, 3 Mya Gillard, 4 Cameron Edwards, honorable mention Kianna Cruz; Seventh-grade: 1 Jazmine Wilkerson, 2 Amy Murphy, 3 Tymeka Anderson, 4 Dalon Alford, honorable mention Irish Wingfield and Joylynn Irizarry; Eighth-grade: 1 Joshua Defoe, 2 Paris Gary, 3 Jada Key, 4 Aaliyah Douglas, honorable mention Samantha Rodriguez. All middle school winners are students at Lewis Frasier.
From high school, the winners were: Ninth-grade: no entries; 10th-grade: 1. Dishon Gates, 2. Andre Smith, 3. Sara Stephens, 4. Bradley Knapp, honorable mention Justin Lowery, all of Challenge Academy; 11th-grade: 1. Juan Santiago, 2. Jason Belion, 3. Dalton Peppers, 4. Marlana Bales, all of Challenge Academy; 12th-grade: 1. Jaleel Menifee, Liberty County High, 2. Alex Crawford, Challenge Academy.
Judge’s Award: 1. Rachael Marques, Liberty County High.
Music Awards: 1. solo voice Leah Hayes, Bradwell Institute, and 1. instruments and solo voice Allen Keel, Liberty County High.
