Head Start earns compliance certificate

The Head Start Program, sponsored by Coastal Georgia Area Community Action Authority, received its triennial federal review and was awarded the Blue Certificate.
The Administration for Children and Families conducted an on-site monitoring review of the Head Start program from April 8-13, 2007 and found the program to be in full compliance with all applicable Head Start Performance Standards, laws, regulations and policy requirements.
ACF awards only two certificates to high performing programs. The Gold Certificate is awarded to programs with no areas of non-compliance and the Blue Certificate is awarded to programs with identified non-compliances that are corrected on site.
The local Head Start program had two minor areas that were corrected prior to the completion of the review by the eight-member team.
Leonard Dawson, executive director of CAA said, “the most honorable recognition was achieved due to the support and cooperation of the staff for the children and families served.”
Coastal Georgia Area CAA operates Head Start in nine counties: Bryan, Camden, Evans, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, Tattnall and Wayne serving 917 children.
