Local man earns doctorate

Linnie L. Darden Sr. recently has been awarded his doctoral degree in professional counseling.
He completed and defended his doctoral dissertation. He is a graduate of the University of California Berkeley and Argosy University of Sarasota, Florida.
Darden is the director of Save Our Children Counseling, a nonprofit organization that counsels youth in order to prevent them from resorting to violence or drugs.
Darden, who is the father of attorney Linnie L. Darden III of Hinesville, also does missionary work in South Africa and Ethiopia, where he established a school for the deaf in 1962.
Darden, who is 80 years old, is the oldest person in his graduating class.
