On March 12, the Midway Middle School Media Center had two incentive parties for students who earned 75 Accelerated Reading points and an 80 percent average.
Twenty-two sixth and seventh graders attended during fourth period, while 20 eighth graders were present during the fifth period party.
They watched “City of Ember,” a film based on the book by Jeanne Duprau. They enjoyed sodas and popcorn made by Wilhemenia Gadson, an aide in the media center. The students also enjoyed a movie-themed goody bag complete with Twizzlers, Goobers, Raisinettes, a star necklace, directors clapboard keychain and a bookmark.
Another incentive was getting to spend their points in the AR store before anyone else. The students enjoyed the lovely weather outside during the movie intermission.
