SAVANNAH — Beginning in January, Savannah Technical College will offer a new technical certificate of credit in the drafting department. The new program, CAD Operator, will be offered mostly online and will allow students hands-on training with AutoCAD. It covers basic drafting and AutoCAD commands as well as all types of fastener drawings (welding symbols, bolts and screws) and auxiliary drawing, which allows the object to be seen in different views.
This preparation will allow the CAD operator to assist architects and/or engineers in visualizing functionality of the design before the manufacturing or building process resulting in greater efficiencies and reducing the likelihood of design errors.
