Button Gwinnett Elementary School’s character education words for December were “joyfulness” and “goodwill” for the holiday season.

Students and staff were asked to bring canned and non-perishable foods as a goodwill offering for needy families in the community. An unidentified organization in Hinesville also donated turkeys and cakes for the families.

Then school counselor Frednell Walthour, social worker Yolanda Sharp and custodian Vance Young packed one of the school’s cars and delivered food baskets to 10 families.

Walthour said, “It touched my heart to see the smiles and disbelief on the faces of families that could not believe that the Button Gwinnett family wanted to spread joy and goodwill to them.”
