AUSTELL — Six Flags Over Georgia is encouraging kids to read.

The amusement park is partnering with Discovery Education to offer free admission to K-6 students who participate in Read to Succeed, an online program that aims to encourage kids to read outside the classroom.

Students who complete six hours of non-school reading are eligible for a free admission ticket. That reading can include picture books, newspapers, comic books, novels and nonfiction materials.

Teachers with 10 or more students who complete the program can also win a free ticket.

Melinda Ashcraft, park president, said in a statement that 1,600 schools throughout the Southeast participated in the program in 2011.

The deadline for registration is March 1.
