Students at Smiley Elementary recently participated in the statewide Young Georgia Authors writing competition. As part of the competition, students wrote stories, poems or essays. The entries were original student works created without any teacher assistance.  Entries were judged at the homeroom level and a winner was chosen for each grade.  Smiley winners include kindergartner Sydney Clary, first-grader Mikazha Golden, second-grader Shae Kirkus and third-grader Shelbi Campbell. These winners will advance to the competition’s state level.
