LaShawn Bacon, daughter of Bertha Mae Bacon and the late Rayford T. Bacon Sr., completed her dissertation and is now Dr. LaShawn C. Bacon. She received her degree in counselor education and supervision May 14 from the University of Iowa. She also has accepted an assistant professor position at Lindsey Wilson College in Louisville, Ky., where she will teach master’s level mental-health counseling courses.
