ATLANTA — A Stanford University senior from Atlanta is among 32 American students named Rhodes Scholars for 2012. The Rhodes Trust said Ishan Nath of Atlanta was chosen for a scholarship to study at Oxford University in England.
Nath is finishing his bachelor’s degrees in economics and earth systems at Stanford, where he’s also earning a minor in mathematics.
Nath, who has served as an intern at the White House’s office of economic policy, plans to pursue graduate studies in economics at Oxford. Rhodes Scholarships pay expenses for two or three years of study at Oxford, with an average value of about $50,000 per year.

Latino leadership program
ATLANTA — Georgia State University recently received nearly $5 million from the Goizueta Foundation to prepare Latino students for global leadership positions.
The university said the gift will be used to create the Latino Leadership Pipeline. The program will provide 100 promising Latino high school students with $10,000 annual scholarships, as well as academic support for college.
