DULUTH — An information session on the expansion of Georgia’s public virtual charter school is planned for the Coastal Georgia region.

The session about Georgia Connections Academy going from K-8 to K-12 will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Hilton Garden Inn, 5711 Aberoom St. in Savannah.

Georgia Connections Academy is a tuition-free public school and students from anywhere in the state may enroll. Authorized by the Georgia State Board of Education, the school is about to complete its first academic year, and 700 students have received K-8 instruction.

“Good things are happening in public education, and we’re proud to be a leader in the future of great schooling in our state,” Georgia Connections Academy Principal Heather Robinson said. “We look forward to welcoming more elementary, middle, and now high schoolers next year.”
