Family Connection to provide free meals to children affected by school closures
Bryan County Family Connection

Bryan County Family Connection will be providing free breakfast and dinner for all Bryan County children while county schools are closed from Monday, March 23 to Friday, April 10, according to a press release.

Bryan County Family Connection is a Department under Bryan County Board of Commissioners. The county is currently implementing precautionary steps in response to health concerns regarding the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

‘Grab & Go’ meals will be available to students from Bryan County schools, starting Monday March 23, from 4:30-6 p.m. at the following locations:

· Hendrix Park – 3960 Wilma Edwards Road, Ellabell

· Pembroke City Park – 91 Lanier Street, Pembroke

· Plantation Apartments – 201 Casey Drive, Richmond Hill

“During this difficult time, we want to help alleviate some of the stress for our Bryan County families,” said Bryan County Family Connection Executive Director Wendy Sims. “No child should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from because they aren’t in school.”

Family Connections has closed their food and clothing bank, but phone lines are open 24/7 and emergency deliveries of food to those in need are being undertaken by senior staff in addition to the new student meal program.

Bryan County Family Connection connects key community partners in order to improve the lives of children and families by finding resources, coordinating projects, managing efforts, and empowering the community to craft local solutions based on unique challenges and opportunities. The Collaborative has built a team of diverse partners committed to improving the quality of life in Bryan County, by a planning process that identifies needs and resources, sets goals and priorities, evaluates programs and practices, and measures and reports results for Bryan County
