A two-vehicle accident on Highway 84 in Hinesville sent one woman to a hospital Wednesday. According to Hinesville Police Patrol Officer Jimmel Hargrove, the accident occurred around 12:15 pm.

“The van was coming out of KFC trying to make a left turn onto East Oglethorpe and the car was traveling in the fast lane, going straight. She didn’t see the car coming and she turned into the path of the vehicle,” Hargrove said.

The crash and subsequent cleanup backed up traffic in both directions of Highway 84.

“The driver of the van sustained some injuries to her arm,” Hargrove said. “The driver of the car had injuries to her knee, her arm and chest area from the seat belt. And she complained of head injuries as well.”

The driver of the car was put on a stretcher and taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital.
