Fire displaces Fort Stewart soldier
LL FIRE 031820

A kitchen fire in Walthourville Tuesday night has displaced a Fort Stewart solder and three others.
According to Haley Rollerson, who lives in the home on the 600 block of McCumber Drive  with the unidentified soldier, she was cooking in the kitchen when the pan that was on the stove caught on fire shortly after 8:30 pm.
Rollerson attempted to put out the fire by covering it up and placing it inside the stove.  The flames continued to spread quickly, sending Rollerson and the soldier to flee the home with two children.
When deputies from the Liberty County Sheriff's Office arrived they tried to put out the fire with a hose, but it would not reach the blaze. When firefighters arrived the kitchen was engulfed in flames which was rapidly spreading throughout the rest of the home.  With the help of the deputies firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames.
The Red Cross has been called to assist the family. If you want to help, check out the Coastal News Service Facebook page for contact info.
