Flemington lights up Christmas tree

On the evening of Nov. 30, the City of Flemington held their annual Tree Lighting event at Flemington City Hall.  Council, residents and guests enjoyed the holiday event which featured a Candyland theme and a live band.  After a few words of welcome and good cheer were expressed by Flemington Mayor Paul Hawkins and Donald Lovette, Chairman of the Liberty County Board of Commissioners, two excited little girls flipped the switch to light the outdoor tree.

Due to COVID-19, the event underwent some changes from previous years.  The event was 100 percent outdoors, all refreshments were individually packaged, and masks, hand sanitizer and gloves were available, with social distancing observed. The Mayor and Council are happy to report that every single person in attendance wore their mask.

Event goers are encouraged to share any pictures or video taken at the event to flemington@coastalnow.net or tag us on Facebook.
