Driver found, questions answered
car in creek

Hinesville Police Officers have now solved the mystery on how a vehicle ended up upside down in a small creek Friday morning, off Oglethorpe Highway near Dunkin’ Donuts.

According to Hinesville Police Traffic Accident Investigator, Scott Hensler, officers responded to a call of a vehicle in a creek near Timberlane Circle.

Hensler said a witness called 911 to report the vehicle was first seen swerving while traveling on the westbound lanes Oglethorpe Highway.  According to Hensler the witness stated the vehicle went into the eastbound lane and into some foliage and flipped into a small creek upside down.

When police arrived they discovered the vehicle empty, presumably the driver fled the scene.

Hensler has since learned that Valerie Flowers, 29, of Hinesville, failed to maintain control of her car and drove into the shallow creek. Flowers was trapped for several minutes in the car but managed to free herself, climb, out the car and flee the scene.

Flowers waited several hours before telling the police what happebed.
