Food giveaway Thursday

The Liberty County Manna House is teaming up with America’s Second Harvest for a Truck to Trunk emergency food giveaway in Hinesville Thursday, 10 a.m. to 12 noon, according to a press release issued by Manna House Executive Director Katrina Deason.

“These are critical times, and l feel a special obligation to help those who cannot help themselves,” said Deason.

The release stated that news reports paint an unprecedented time of public emergency, prompting Deason to issue more groceries for those in need.

“This may be a tough week but we are not panicking,” Rev. Deason said. “We have low income seniors and citizens who could not “buy out” the stores and stock up groceries because they do not have the  money, so we need to under-gird them.”

The drive through mobile food bank event will issue 500 food boxes to people, the release said.

“They won’t get out of their automobiles, just open the trunk and drive through," Deason explained. "Thanks to America’s  Second Harvest we will provide an extra issue of groceries to needy  families in Liberty County.”

The Manna House has been temporarily operating out of 306 W. Memorial Drive for several months until the new facility is constructed. For information call (912) 368-3660, or visit www. Libertycountymannahouse.org
