Moderate temperatures and heavy appetites drew out a large crowd to South Main Street on Oct. 30 during the Food Truck festival organized by the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce. It was the second Food Truck event after COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the annual festival last year. The first Food Truck festival was held in 2019.
Chamber Board member Susan McCorkle said the attendance was more than they expected. She said they weren’t able to offer the fun activities for the kids as they did in year one. But she said she hopes all the activities will return next year. She said the Food Trucks vendors were excited to be serving their treats and the lines were steady from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Vendors were serving up Caribbean food, ice cream, burgers, Fish and Chips, BBQ, Latin food and so much more. And people were enjoying their meals while listening to live entertainment all day.
“People were wanting to come out and the food trucks were ready to participate,” McCorkle said. The event was sponsored by Coldwell Banker Southern Coast and Southern Coast Properties.
“The food has been so good,” said Brigitte Shanken of Coldwell Banker Southern Coast. “And the entertainment has been amazing as well,” her co-worker Nikki Gaskin added. “It’s crazy to see how many locals showed up. It’s fantastic.”
