A freeze warning is in effect

A freeze warning will be in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Charleston. Temperatures will dip as low as 29 F. Freezing temperatures could kill sensitive vegetation and damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

Bring pets inside, too.

A warm-up is expected by the weekend, which, by the way, is the time to set your clocks forward one hour before going to bed Saturday night. It is time to spring forward as Daylight Saving time in Georgia begins at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 10.

Liberty County schools to have early release Tuesday
Remote learning to be held Wednesday and Thursday

The Liberty County School System will have a half-day of instruction Tuesday and will use virtual learning Wednesday and Thursday because of the risk of winter weather.

All school trips, after school activities and events have been cancelled from January 21-23

Release times Tuesday are:

·       Pre-K at 11 a.m.

·       Elementary at 11:30 a.m.

·       High School at 12:45 p.m.

·       Middle School at 1:15 p.m

Students should ensure they have their iPads/Chromebooks and will receive instruction pertaining to virtual learning on Tuesday.

LCSS will continue to monitor the weather conditions in the area and will provide updates regarding school status for Friday.
