A fire Friday afternoon in Hinesville has displaced several families.
According to Hinesville Fire Department Training Chief Mohammad Bryant, units were dispatched to a fire on the 100 block of Gause Street shortly after 1 p.m.
Bryant said when firefighters arrived, unit 6 of a multi dwelling row of apartments was fully engulfed in flames. Bryant said firefighters controlled the fire quickly, sparing the other units from being damaged. Bryant said the fire stemmed from a grease fire.
The Red Cross is assisting as many as eight people who had to vacate the units due to smoke and water damage and the lack of electricity.
