Today: A chance of showers, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 1pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 81. Light east wind increasing to 10 to 15 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

 

Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 71. East wind 7 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

 

Memorial Day: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. Southeast wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

 

Monday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

 

Tuesday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 86. South wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

We will continue to monitor Alberto over this Memorial day weekend and update you as new information come in. please prepare for some heavy raining tonight HEAVY RAIN: 2 to 3 inches of rainfall is expected across most of the area, with higher amounts possible along the coast. This rainfall, on top of the already wet soils, could lead to localized flooding. The flood threat will be further enhanced for coastal areas, including downtown Charleston and Savannah, if heavy rainfall occurs around the time of the Sunday evening or Monday morning high tides. Additionally, wet soil, in combination with gusty winds, could result in some downed trees, primarily along the coast. Weather Prediction Center has the area highlighted under a Slight Risk for Excessive Rainfall Today and Monday.

 

TORNADOES: A few brief tornadoes cannot be ruled out with the strongest storms. Any tornadoes will result in localized areas of tree and structure damage.
