The mother of a juvenile girl called police Sunday after seeing a man she knew touch her daughter inappropriately.
Warrants were issued for Shannon Latrell Evans, of Hinesville, on charges of child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes, said Statesboro police Capt. Jared Akins.
Officers responded Sunday to a Bobby Donaldson Avenue home, where they spoke with the mother of the girl, who is under 14 years old, he said. The mother said she saw Evans, 43, be “inappropriate” and “immediately summoned law enforcement,” Akins said. At that time, Evans, an “acquaintance” of the family, left the residence.
Statesboro police Detective Keith Holloway began an investigation into the allegations and issued warrants for Evans, who was located later and arrested in another home in Statesboro.
Evans was taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where he remains without bond pending further judicial action, he said.
