Hinesville renews emergency order

Hinesville's city council held a teleconference meeting Friday afternoon to pass an updated emergency declaration that mirrors that of Gov. Brian Kemp’s shelter-in-place order now in effect.

The newly passed declaration states Hinesville Police Department officers can issue citations, notices or fines to people and businesses that violate social and physical distancing and sanitizing practices.

HPD will also enforce the order if they find businesses that Kemp mandated be closed are open, council said.
