The Hinesville Police Department made numerous arrests in June and July stemming from a narcotics investigation.

On June 25, a surveillance operation by the Hinesville Police Department’s (HPD) Narcotics Unit led to the arrest of 36-year-old Samuel Mickel and the seizure of over an ounce of cocaine. Mickel was arrested for trafficking cocaine and obstruction of an officer for attempting to run during the arrest. At the time of his arrest, he was on parole for trafficking cocaine. Mickel is currently incarcerated in the Liberty County jail.

On July 3, a joint operation between the HPD’s Narcotics Unit and Crime Suppression Unit resulted in the seizure of a quarter pound of marijuana and a firearm. As a result of this joint operation, 38-year-old Johnnie Jackson was arrested and released to the custody of the Liberty County Jail.

After a three-month long undercover investigation into the sales of methamphetamines, on July 11, the HPD’s Narcotics Unit served a search warrant at the Travel Lodge Motel. During the search, officers arrested 32-year-old Deron Hopkins and 29-year-old Shanell Lee. Marijuana, methamphetamine, a firearm and items used for the packaging and distribution of illegal narcotics were seized. Hopkins and Lee are currently in the Liberty County Jail.
