Joint Operation by HPD and LSCO Results in Drug Seizure

HINESVILLE, Ga. (Dec. 3, 2019) – Authorities have been busy in the local war on drugs lately. 

A 28-year-old man was arrested Nov. 21 for making and selling THC-laced drinks, cookies and chocolate candy. 

Fransico Velez, was arrested after a joint operation by narcotics units with the Hinesville Police Department and Liberty County Sheriff’s Office. 

He faces various charges and is out on a $42,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing and other charges are pending. 

In a separate case, on Nov. 27 HPD drug units seized over one quarter pound of crystal methamphetamine, six ounces of marijuana, cellular phones and other contraband material that were destined for Smith State Prison in Glennville. Arrested were Ashley Nicole Thomas, and Amanda Sage Medley, 35,  both from Atlanta.

Both are currently incarcerated in the Liberty County Jail and their bonds have been denied. 

Another suspect, a prisoner at Smith State Prison, has been identified and his name is being withheld pending formal charges. 

The investigation is ongoing and other charges and arrests are anticipated.
