Legion post set to host annual 9/11 observance
9-11

East Liberty County American Legion Post 321’s family will be hosting their 15th 9/11 observance.

The annual 9/11 observance of the terrorist attacks on the U.S. will be held at Midway City Hall on September 11 and will begin promptly at 6 p.m.

Past post commander Dennis Fitzgerald encourages all to participate and attend. As a firefighter upon hearing of this tragic happening, and as a longtime resident of a small community just north of New York City, he and his wife stopped what they were doing and drove to New York City, where he hooked up with his old volunteer fire department from Beacon and assisted in the various operations.

“We as Americans must remember the heroic efforts of all first responders who responded to this crime,” Fitzgerald said. “The courage shown by all law enforcement officers, medics, firefighters and other Americans on that day must never be forgotten.”
