From January 31 to February 2, Liberty County 4-H participated in the Georgia 4-H Southeast District Project Achievement (DPA). This annual competition, hosted by Georgia 4-H’s four districts, provides seventh-12th grade students the opportunity to develop essential life skills through project work and public demonstrations.
DPA consists of two key components: portfolio work and demonstrations. These activities help students strengthen their communication skills, build leadership abilities, craft résumés, and engage in meaningful community service. Throughout the year, 4-Hers build their portfolios by participating in five key categories: Main Project Work, Main Project Sharing and Helping, Leadership, Community Service/ Civic Engagement, and Other Activities. Additionally, they compile a photo page documenting their involvement.
For the demonstration portion, 4-Hers present a seven- to-nine-minute speech on their selected project, perform a three-to-four-minute artistic presentation (such as a monologue, musical performance, or dance), or create a food demonstration following a recipe. This experience fosters confidence and subject-matter expertise in a wide range of disciplines.

Leadership and Elections

Candidates first submit an application highlighting their 4-H experiences, then deliver a 30-45-second persuasive speech to voter delegates, and finally campaign throughout the weekend.
Colton Sherbine successfully ran for the 2024-2025 Southeast Junior Board and was elected to serve. His hard work and dedication exemplify the leadership qualities that 4-H fosters in young people.
