Georgia Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan praised educators and students at Liberty College and Career Academy after they received their Georgia College and Career Academy certification earlier this year.

In December, Lt. Governor Duncan was able to personally congratulate those in attendance at the Lt. Governor’s 12th Annual Business & Education Summit at Lanier Technical College in Gainesville.

The Georgia College & Career Academy certification is a formal process established by the Office of College and Career Transitions and approved by the Technical College System of Georgia State Board, through which college and career academies successfully demonstrate appropriate levels of student achievement, community sustainability, workforce development, and school level governance.

In order to receive certification, the College & Career Academy must demonstrate how it increases student achievement, provides for dual credit and dual enrollment opportunities, addresses workforce development needs, establishes local governance and autonomy, increases work-based learning opportunities, articulates how collaboration among business, industry, and community stakeholders will advance workforce development, provides evidence to support Performance Contract renewal and articulates how collaboration among business, industry, and community stakeholders will advance workforce development.

“The focus Georgia has placed on workforce development is second to none across the country,” said Duncan. “The students and teachers at Liberty College and Career Academy have played a vital role in that important part of our economic future. I want to congratulate them on this accomplishment, as well as thank them for their commitment to making Georgia’s future brighter than ever.”
