Liberty County hosts hurricane preparedness exercise
LC hurricane preparedeness

Liberty County Emergency Management Agency (LCEMA) hosted its 2022 hurricane preparedness tabletop exercise on April 19. This exercise provided participants with an opportunity to assess capabilities and discuss plans, policies and procedures to identify any gaps.

It is focused on decision-making, coordination and integration with essential support function leads and community, local, state and federal partners. LCEMA strengthened interagency coordination and synchronized plans that will help protect residents and property from any potential hurricanes this season.

Tabletop exercises like this help promote hurricane awareness and preparation that reduce the impact of hurricane disasters. This tabletop exercise discussed vulnerabilities and the actions to take to better reduce the effects of a hurricane disaster and save lives.

“Although we have been fortunate in recent years with the tracks of some past major hurricanes, it is only a matter of time before we may potentially have a direct hit. It is better to be over-prepared and not need it than be underprepared and have a need to help our residents” said Trip Duke, Liberty County Deputy Director of Emergency Management.

LCEMA would like to thank all the supporting essential function representatives and partners who attended.
