The Liberty County School System was one of only 28 school districts in the state of Georgia to receive a Georgia School Board Association (GSBA) Leading Edge Award.
GSBA seeks to highlight school districts in Georgia who are leading the way in ensuring students are competitive in an ever-changing global market. This unique achievement recognizes innovative design and implementation of programs and practices that have a significate impact on student engagement and achievement.
The district submitted artifacts focusing on Teaching and Learning, which is one of nine GSBA components of the Georgia Vision for Public Education. The Teaching and Learning areas highlighted included Professional Learning Communities, at both the school and district level, use of data for planning instruction, resources to support instruction, and integration of technology in classroom instruction.
Valarie Wilson, GSBA president, stated, “This unique achievement recognizes innovative design and implementation of projects and programs by your school system that are having a significant and positive impact on your students. You are truly leading the way in student achievement and engagement, and we are honored to recognize your accomplishments.”
Dr. Franklin Perry, Superintendent of Schools, stated, “We are very excited to receive this award from GSBA that recognizes the hard work of our staff and students in implementing innovative practices that support student learning and achievement. We appreciate the support of our Board of Education, parents and community as we continue to strive for Excellence in Everything, while leading the way in education.”
Perry, Board Chair Mrs. Lily Baker and several Board members were present to accept the award. As a Leading Edge Award recipient, the district may be asked to present on their recognized program at GSBA trainings and events.
